Scaling and root planing cleans out these gum pockets and cleans the exposed tooth roots. Advanced laser dentistry helps to eliminate even more bacteria as the laser energy is useful in sterilizing the area being treated. At the same time the laser energy can be used to very precisely remove any diseased tissues. Once treatment is completed then Dr. Rahmani may choose to place antibiotics into the gum pockets to help carry on the process of killing off bacteria. Afterwards your gums will be able to heal more easily and should end up fitting more snugly around your teeth. This kind of treatment can be ongoing and it is important to follow any treatment plan provided by your periodontist as closely as possible, making sure you don’t miss any appointments.
