Have you recently noticed your teeth looking longer than you remember? If you take a closer look does it appear as if your gums are shrinking? If the answer is yes then you may want to periodontist in Midtown, NYC. If your teeth are looking longer, then your gums could be receding and it’s important to find out why (gum recession causes).

Reasons Why Teeth Looking Longer

There are a couple of main reasons why teeth looking longer. It could be that you are brushing too hard and this can be quite a common problem. Some people assume it is best to scrub their teeth as hard as they can and that doing so will get their teeth cleaner. While it might leave teeth a bit cleaner than before, you don’t need to brush very hard and doing so can literally wear away your gum tissue. At the same time, it can also damage your teeth, gradually wearing away your tooth enamel leaving you more at risk of tooth decay. If this is the case, your dentist can recommend switching to a more suitable toothbrush and can show you how to brush your teeth more gently to minimize any damage in the future. Otherwise it’s possible your teeth looking longer and gums of pulling away due to infection.

Gum Infection – Gum Recession

Everybody’s mouth contains lots of different types of bacteria and while some of these bacteria are completely harmless, others can be very destructive if the numbers are allowed to increase. Most times regular oral hygiene will help keep bacterial numbers under control but if your daily dental care is a little lacking and if you fail to brush and floss regularly then bacteria can build up, causing infection in your gums. Your body’s immune system will try to fight this infection but as it does so it produces inflammation and it’s the inflammation that causes your gums to recede and to pull away so it appears as if your teeth looking longer. Gum recession can occur quite gradually, so by the time you notice, then it’s possible that your gums may be substantially infected, a condition that is called gum disease or periodontal disease.

Gum Disease Treatment, Midtown NYC

By this stage your best bet is to visit a good periodontist, for example a Dr. Navid Rahmani. This is because periodontal disease does require specialized care and Dr. Rahmani will be able to recommend the most suitable treatments to begin clearing up the infection. While these treatments may help eliminate the bacteria causing the infection, resulting in your gums fitting more snugly around your teeth, the problem of gum recession may still remain. This is because gum disease does destroy gum tissue.

How to Replace Missing Gum Tissue

It is possible to have procedures that are designed to help restore lost gum tissue and which are called gum grafts, Midtown Manhattan. For this procedure, gum tissue can be taken from somewhere else in the mouth and grafted onto gums that have receded quite badly. As well as creating a more aesthetically pleasing appearance, gum grafts can help protect the teeth as exposed tooth roots are likely to feel very sensitive and are more prone towards developing tooth decay. Advanced periodontal disease may require ongoing treatment and you’ll find your periodontist can give you lots of advice on caring for your gums so they remain healthy in between visits.

If you have ever been diagnosed with periodontal disease then you’ll already know just how serious this condition can become. Periodontal disease or periodontitis is a bacterial infection that causes inflammation that will destroy the soft tissues or your gum tissues but it will also destroy the bone supporting your teeth. Without the correct periodontitis treatment, it can lead to tooth loss. Even worse, periodontal disease is associated with other systemic inflammatory diseases that include rheumatoid arthritis and atherosclerosis.

Bone Loss Prevention Research

Now a new study carried out by a group of researchers at the University Of Pennsylvania School Of Dental Medicine has found a protein that has the ability to inhibit the type of bone loss associated with advanced periodontal disease. The researchers found that the protein is able to reduce the activity of osteoclasts which are cells that absorb bone tissue. This ability can prevent bone loss and could lead to new treatments for periodontal disease in the future. This protein could also help treat other inflammatory diseases where bone loss is a factor, for example rheumatoid arthritis and osteoporosis.

Periodontal Disease Does Require Good Periodontist

Any research that could help treat periodontal disease in the future is certainly good news as this is a serious condition that does require specialized treatment. This is why if you are diagnosed with periodontal disease or suspect you may have this condition, it’s best to visit a good periodontist who will be able to offer you the type of care necessary to control advanced periodontitis. You do not need a referral from your family dentist to book an appointment with a periodontist in Midtown, Manhattan, NYC.

Advanced Periodontitis Treatment

A periodontist will be able to provide all the latest and most advanced treatments after making a thorough evaluation of your teeth and gums. They will carefully check the condition of your gum tissue and will take specialized measurements to assess the severity of any gum disease. You’ll probably find they will take some dental x-rays to determine any possible bone loss. Using this information, they’ll be able to provide you with a written treatment plan showing the procedures they think will best help you.

Highest Quality Dental Treatment in NYC

For example, if you visit Manhattan Periodontics & Implant Surgery then you’ll be able to access the highest quality treatment. Most plans will include a procedure called scaling and root planing that is used to help remove some of the bacterial infection. At this particular practice, Dr Navid Rahmani can also provide laser dental treatments that can be a far more comfortable and precise way of treating badly infected gums. A dental laser can be used to remove tissue that has been destroyed by the disease, leaving the maximum amount of healthy tissue intact so your gums are able to heal more easily.

If you have suffered bone loss then there are a number of advanced techniques that can be used to help replace it including the very latest bone grafts that use materials to help promote the growth of your own bone cells.
Treatment for advanced periodontal disease does tend to be ongoing so it’s important that you are committed to attending regular appointments and to following your periodontist’s advice on home dental care.

Flossing a Waste of Time?

Here at Manhattan Periodontics and Implant Dentistry in Midtown Manhattan we are pretty horrified by the idea that flossing could be a waste of time. The idea has been put forward by a leading dental expert in the UK who suggests this might be the case, but not because it is ineffective.

The reason they are suggesting this is because most people do not floss properly, if at all, and their argument is that by flossing incorrectly people could be doing their gums more harm than good. Most importantly, they also point out that by failing to floss correctly there is the risk that gums will be damaged or that the chances of developing gum disease will be increased.

If you don’t do not floss your teeth properly then you are at much greater risk of needing to see a good periodontist NYC such as Dr. Navid Rahmani for treatment for periodontal disease.

Why Flossing Your Teeth Is Important

There is no question that when you have the proper flossing technique then it is probably the most effective way to clean in between your teeth, but the problem is that flossing does require a high level of dexterity that many people simply don’t have. If someone flosses incorrectly there is a risk that instead of removing plaque and food debris, they could be pushing it down in between their teeth and into the gums, leaving this debris in the perfect position to create problems.

Another common mistake is using a piece of dental floss to saw in between the teeth as this can traumatize the gums and may even cause them to recede( Read more: gum recession). So what is the solution?

Correct Flossing Technique

One solution is to learn how to use dental floss correctly. Any hygienist will be able to demonstrate the correct technique and can provide guidance on learning how to floss properly. Sometimes using a different dental floss will make things easier. There is a bit of a knack to flossing which is why a practical demonstration can be so useful.

Alternatives to Flossing in NYC

If you know you cannot get on with flossing or have limited dexterity, then there are alternatives as you can use interdental brushes or air or water flossers. Interdental brushes are tiny toothbrushes that fit in between your teeth and these can be very easy to use and they also provide stimulation for your gums which will help keep the gum tissue strong and healthy. They come in a variety of sizes and you may need to use more than one size to reach in between all the teeth in your mouth.

Another alternative is to use water or air flossers that work by forcing water or air in between your teeth and these can be very effective. These are a more expensive option than interdental brushes but should last for a very long time.

What Happens if You Don’t Floss?

If you don’t do anything then you are at much greater risk of needing to see a good periodontist such as Dr. Navid Rahmani of New York periodontal clinic for treatment for periodontal disease.

Gum disease is most often caused by poor oral hygiene and it can be incredibly destructive. Ultimately you could lose teeth and you will put your general health at risk. You could end up spending hours in the dental chair and treatment may need to be ongoing. It is far simpler to find some method of cleaning in between your teeth that you know you can commit to using.

Gum disease is serious, as it can cause tooth loss and has the ability to affect your general health, but did you know it can also affect the way your teeth bite together? The way a person’s teeth fit together is called their bite or occlusion and everyone has a unique bite. While very few people will bite together absolutely perfectly, occlusion can be affected by periodontal disease or advanced gum disease. While having a less than perfect bite won’t cause periodontal disease as this is a bacterial infection, if you are actually missing any teeth then this could cause periodontal disease to worsen.

How Tooth Loss Affects Your Bite

This is because tooth loss affects your remaining natural teeth, increasing the risk that they will move out of position towards the gap left by missing teeth. This not only affects the teeth adjacent to the gap, but also those that used to oppose your missing teeth as they will begin to drift towards the empty space, affecting the way your teeth bite together. This type of tooth movement can have a destabilizing effect on your teeth and any change the way your teeth bite together can lead to problems with your jaw joints or temporomandibular joints.

How Tooth Loss Can Affect Your Jaw Joints

Your jaw joints are called your temporomandibular joints and they hinge your lower jaw in place, enabling it to move from side to side and up and down. If your bite has been affected by tooth loss, it can be sufficient to place your jaw joints under pressure, causing inflammation and pain. This pain can be quite considerable and could result in you waking up with headaches that don’t seem to respond to conventional treatments, and the pain can even radiate down towards your neck and shoulders or it may affect your ears, causing tinnitus.

Correcting the Damage Caused by Gum Disease and Tooth Loss

The first thing to do is to get treatment for any existing periodontal disease and it’s best to visit a periodontist specializing in gum disease, for example Dr. Navid Rahmani. An initial evaluation will also help determine the best way to approach any problems caused by teeth that are out of alignment. Sometimes it may be as simple as removing any high points on teeth that are only slightly out of occlusion so they bite together correctly. Otherwise it might be a matter of replacing old fillings or other restorations that have gone beyond their sell by date such as crowns or bridges. Every dental restoration needs replacing periodically and it’s important to do so as this helps protect your dental health. If your teeth are significantly out of position, you may need to consider orthodontic treatment Midtown Manhattan to reposition them and this is something that may need to be done before restoring any lost teeth. Then there is the matter of replacing any missing teeth.

By replacing any missing teeth, you’ll be preventing your remaining natural teeth from moving any more, restoring stability and structure to your mouth. One of the best ways to replace missing teeth is through dental implants and again it’s best to visit a practice that specializes in implant surgery, for example Manhattan Periodontics & Implant Surgery.

Most New Year’s resolutions involve getting healthier, saving money or perhaps quitting a bad habit such as smoking, so it might seem a bit strange to resolve to have healthy gums next year. But a periodontal evaluation in Midtown Manhattan could be one of the best things you could do for not only your dental health, but also your general health and it could save you money in medical bills in the longer term.

Why Healthy Gums Matter

When imagining a healthy mouth, many people think of strong, white and healthy teeth, completely overlooking the fact that these teeth are supported by the gums. It doesn’t matter how good your teeth look if they aren’t supported properly by healthy and strong gums. Ideally, gums fit quite snugly around the teeth, sealing out bacteria in the mouth, preventing damage to the ligaments attached to your teeth and which secure them in the bony sockets. When gum disease (gum disease signs and symptoms) becomes sufficiently well advanced, mouth bacteria also have the potential to destroy bone surrounding your teeth.

What Should Healthy Gums Look like?

Healthy gums should be a nice, pale pink color, will be firm to touch and won’t bleed when you brush or floss (Read also: Gums Bleed When You Brush Teeth?). If you notice your gums are looking puffy or red, are perhaps swollen or bleed frequently when you brush then it’s possible you could have gum disease and this is where a yearly periodontal evaluation with a good periodontist such as Dr. Navid Rahmani can be invaluable. By having regular evaluations, you’ll be ensuring your gums are healthy and strong, supporting and protecting your teeth. The great thing about seeing a periodontist is that you can be sure you’ll be getting the highest quality examination and if you do need any treatment then it will be the most up-to-date and effective available today.

How Do Healthy Gums Help Protect My General Health?

These days there is an increasing amount of evidence showing strong links between healthy gums and a healthy body. In cases where people have advanced gum disease or periodontal disease, it’s been found they can be more at risk of developing serious health conditions, or if they already have health problems then gum disease can make it worse. While the exact links between gum health and general health aren’t quite known yet, there have been a sufficient number of clinical studies to show that healthy gums are important. One of the best investigated links is between gum health and diabetes as diabetics often have gum problems.

Bleeding Gums and Diabetes

When you have advanced gum disease, your gums often bleed frequently when brushed and these wounds are the perfect entry point for mouth bacteria to get into your bloodstream. Periodontal disease is an inflammatory condition (Read also: Periodontal Conditions Prevention) and these bacteria can then travel freely around your body creating new sites of inflammation. Diabetes is also an inflammatory disease and the presence of periodontal disease can make blood sugar levels harder to control. This is especially bad news for diabetics as poorly controlled blood sugar levels increase the amount of glucose in saliva, providing even more fuel for mouth bacteria.

If you even suspect you might have problems with your gums then now is a good time to contact Manhattan Periodontics & Implant Surgery to book that evaluation.

Dr. Rahmani is a board certified, top periodontist and Dental Implant Specialist. We work with top dental labs in NYC and use only highest quality dental components available on the market today.

Being diagnosed with diabetes can be a shock but it is something that many more Americans have to face. Diabetes is very serious condition that can take its toll on your general health and is caused by the body being unable to control the level of glucose in the blood, due to producing insufficient insulin.

Controlling the disease can be quite tricky and in addition to high blood sugar levels, anyone suffering from type I or type II diabetes can end up with other general health complications including neuropathy, heart problems and diabetes arthritis. Unfortunately diabetes also has the ability to affect gum health.

How Diabetes Affects Gum Health

If you have this condition then you do need to take additional care with your oral hygiene routine as there is a strong link between gum disease and diabetes.

People with diabetes are more likely to have gum health problems and to experience early tooth loss. The problem with diabetes is that it increases the risk of glucose in saliva, particularly for anyone who struggles to keep their glucose levels under control.

A higher level of glucose in saliva increases the risk of gum disease as the presence of sugar enables plaque bacteria that cause this disease to thrive.

Gum Disease Symptoms

When you have gum disease, plaque bacteria will gradually infect and inflame your gums, particularly just around the gum line where plaque tends to build up. You may notice your gums look red or swollen or that they bleed slightly when brushed or flossed.

It’s important to make sure that your brushing and flossing routine will remove as much plaque as possible, before it has a chance to infect your gums.

Often it’s very easy to miss certain areas when you brush or floss and plaque can soon harden into tartar (calculus) that can only be removed professionally during a clean at your dental office.

Best Ways to Protect Your Gum Health

Although diabetes will increase your risk of gum disease, there are lots of different things you can do to help protect your gums and to keep them healthy.

The best way is to combine good oral hygiene with professional dental care and you may wish to think about having regular periodontal evaluations with a good periodontist like Dr. Navid Rahmani at Manhattan Periodontics & Implant surgery. Our state of the art periodontal NYC facility equipped with the most advanced periodontal equipment available in USA including latest lasers & high precision microscopes.

His dental office is conveniently located in Midtown, NYC and you don’t need a referral from your general dentist to book an appointment. The advantage of having a regular periodontal evaluation is that Dr. Rahmani will be able to keep a close eye on your gum health from appointment to appointment and can quickly identify any areas of concern.

Gum Disease Treatment in NYC

If you do happen to have any signs of gum disease, a periodontist is always the best qualified dental specialist to see for this problem. Gum disease or periodontal disease often requires specialized treatment and Dr. Rahmani’s dental office is equipped with the very latest dental laser and this can help ensure that treatment is more comfortable and more effective. Dr. Rahmani is also able to provide many different specialized treatments that you simply wouldn’t find in your general dental office, including techniques to help rebuild bone that may have been destroyed by gum disease, and advanced gum grafting techniques.

The great thing about using specialized dental treatment to protect your gum health is that you’ll be helping to protect your general health at the same time, reducing the effect that diabetes can have on your overall health.

Do you know there is something badly wrong with your gums? Perhaps you have noticed they bleed frequently or that you have a persistently bad taste in your mouth? Gum disease is a common problem, particularly amongst people who have felt too nervous to seek dental treatment. This is where Manhattan Periodontics & Implant Surgery can help you with your dental fears.

Are You a Nervous Patient? We Can Help…

We use the latest and most advanced sedation techniques to keep you comfortable during treatment. When you first visit our dental office, Dr. Navid Rahmani will gently examine your mouth to assess if you have gum disease and can then recommend the most suitable course of treatment. This initial visit will also give you an opportunity to discuss your dental fears and it is important to remember that no treatment will be provided at this point and that it will be merely an examination that you can stop at any time.

Sedation Dentistry Can Help Fight Dental Fears

Sedation dentistry is a way of ensuring you feel relaxed enough to receive dental treatment. This can also be useful for anyone who intends to have a lot of treatment in one appointment or who is thinking about having multiple dental implants inserted. You might also hear sedation dentistry being called sleep dentistry even though this isn’t quite technically true. While sedation dentistry will keep you relaxed, you should be able to still communicate with Dr. Rahmani and our dental team during your treatment but you are unlikely to remember very much about treatment once the sedative has worn off. It all depends on the degree of sedation provided, as for example you can have minimal sedation where you will be fully relaxed but awake, or deeper sedation where you will feel quite sleepy but we will still be able to wake you during treatment.

Best Treatments for Gum Disease in NYC

If you do indeed have periodontal or gum disease then you can rest assured that you will receive the best possible treatment as Dr. Rahmani is a periodontist in Midtown Manhattan, NYC and is best qualified to treat your gums. We will ensure that every treatment is given in a very gentle manner and it’s quite possible we may recommend laser dentistry as part of your treatment plan. Our dental laser is one of the most advanced on the market and we often recommend this type of treatment as it is very gentle and non-invasive and can be much easier for nervous patients to cope with. Afterwards healing times are faster and there is less discomfort. If you require surgery then we offer a range of the most advanced techniques that will help restore your gum health. Quite often we find patients who were previously nervous about visiting a dentist find it easier as time goes on, particularly as their dental health is restored and they are able to overcome their dental fears and phobias about treatment.

Dental fears are incredibly common and you will find our dental team is extremely sympathetic towards anyone with this problem. There is no need to feel anxious just because you haven’t seen a dentist in a while as we just want to make sure you have healthy gums and a nice smile.

In the past lose teeth with age was almost seen as being an inevitable part of aging, with dentures being extremely common amongst seniors. Nowadays, we are all living longer and there is an increasing interest in remaining as youthful and as active as possible and having healthy teeth is an important part of this equation.

The good news is that you definitely don’t have to lose teeth with age, but healthy teeth and gums do require good professional dental care and home maintenance. One major problem that will be faced by a large percentage of the population is gum disease.

Gum Disease and How Does It Make You Lose Teeth with Age

Gum disease is a bacterial infection caused by plaque building up on your teeth and gums. If you don’t brush thoroughly enough or fail to floss (Read also: Flossing Properly), then not all the plaque will be regularly removed from your teeth and it will soon harden into tartar that will produce toxins, gradually infecting and inflaming your gums. Over time your gums will be destroyed and the infection will spread to the ligaments that are attached to your teeth and to the jawbone. As these structures are destroyed by gum disease, you will notice your teeth gradually becoming loose, eventually leading to tooth loss.

Obviously this doesn’t happen overnight, but gum disease is insidious and the first symptoms can be easy to miss and this is where Dr. Navid Rahmani of Manhattan Periodontics & Implant Surgery can help you to not lose teeth with age.

Specialized Dental Care for Gum Disease in NY

As a very experienced and highly trained periodontist, Dr. Rahmani can ensure you receive the most appropriate treatment for gum disease. Treatment can vary considerably depending on the progression of the disease and you will find Dr. Rahmani can provide customized care for the mildest symptoms of the disease as well as the most advanced and up-to-date surgical treatments for when gum disease has developed into periodontitis, the most severe form of the disease. So why is this better than visiting a general dentist if you don’t want to lose teeth with age?

A periodontist has first qualified as a general dentist before opting to complete several more years of specialized dental training, ensuring you will get the very best available treatment. As you only have one set of teeth, you will probably be interested in preserving them. You will find that Dr. Rahmani will do everything possible to preserve natural teeth, but if periodontitis is extremely well advanced and teeth have already loosened then there may be no other option but to have them removed.

What Happens if You Do Lose Teeth?

While still upsetting, lose teeth with age can be much more easily dealt with these days and you don’t need to be condemned to a life of loose dentures and soft foods. Any teeth that cannot be salvaged will be carefully removed and you can choose to have dental implants. These artificially replace the entire tooth in a way that will make it very difficult for others to detect you have ever suffered from tooth loss. Instead, you can look forward to strong, stable replacement teeth so you can get on with the business of enjoying life.

Did you notice your toothbrush had blood on it after you brushed this morning, or perhaps there was some blood in the sink? It is easy to chalk these signs up to brushing too hard, being under the weather or even just as one of those things, but in fact it is a very important signal that you shouldn’t ignore, particularly if it is becoming a common sight.

The Significance of Blood on Your Toothbrush

While it is perfectly feasible any blood on your toothbrush is due to brushing too hard, it can easily be a gum disease signs and symptoms, a condition that is called gingivitis in its early stages. Gingivitis is a bacterial infection that gradually weakens and destroys gum tissue, causing it to bleed easily when it comes under the sort of pressure that should normally not have this effect.

This bleeding is hugely significant, not only for your gum health but also for your general health, because bleeding gums allow the bacteria that caused the infection in the first place to enter into your bloodstream. From there, these bacteria can go on to create new sites of inflammation around your body, increasing your risk of developing general health problems, or potentially worsening any conditions you may have such as diabetes or heart disease (Read also: Diabetes Affects Your Health).

What Can You Do to Treat Gum Disease?

If you do notice your gums are bleeding or blood on your toothbrush then you may have other symptoms such as gums that are tender or which look swollen or red and you might have bad breath. If the disease has progressed from gingivitis into periodontitis, a much more serious form of gum disease, then some of your teeth may have already started to loosen. The sooner you take action and seek professional advice and treatment from a periodontist in NYC the better.

A periodontist such as Dr. Navid Rahmani of periodontal New York clinic is your best option if you care about your gum health and would like to give your teeth and gums the best possible chance of recovering from this disease, as periodontists specialize in treating gums.

You will find Dr. Rahmani can quickly assess your gum health and he will recommend the most advanced treatments to help halt the progression of gum disease. If it has already destroyed some gum tissue, he can suggest suitable treatments to repair and replace these tissues.

The good news is that if caught early on, gingivitis is reversible and treatment is very straightforward and simple. It will focus on removing the infection by deep cleaning your gums so they have a better chance of recovering. If the disease progression is more significant, you might require surgical treatments to help eliminate bacteria and to help regenerate lost gum tissues.

Laser Treatment for Gum Disease in Midtown, NYC

Dr. Rahmani will often use laser dentistry to treat gum disease as this is a very gently way to help eliminate bacterial infections, causing minimal side effects and aiding faster healing. With laser dentistry there are far fewer side effects such as swelling and bleeding and often there is no need for pain relief during treatments which can be very useful for anyone who is nervous of needles.

Please don’t ignore your bleeding gums or blood on your toothbrush and take action now. You don’t need a referral from your general dentist to schedule your appointment to the best periodontist NYC Dr. Navid Rahmani of Manhattan Periodontics and Implant Dentistry.

Dentures that are retained with dental implants are becoming an increasingly popular option for people who currently wear loose full dentures. By using dental implants that are firmly held within the jawbone, implant-supported denture can be held securely in place, eliminating the discomfort, jawbone loss and lack of food options that are common problems when wearing removable dentures. We think this treatment is wonderful and it is a solution that Dr. Navid Rahmani often recommends to patients with problem dentures. However we do find that many people are initially a little concerned about the length of time taken to complete treatment. Whereas traditional dental implant treatment in Manhattan often takes quite a few months to complete, the process for patients wishing to have implant retained dentures can be a little different and much faster.

Immediate Load Dental Implants

This is a technique where dental implants can be immediately loaded and means we can fit your new implant-supported denture soon after the implants are surgically placed in jawbone, eliminating the need to wait several months for the implants to integrate and bond with the jawbone. One particular method is called All-on-four and it is especially popular due the fact that only four dental implants are used which makes treatment highly affordable. These dental implants are extremely specialized and are angled to take advantage of existing bone, usually eliminating the need for any bone grafts prior to surgery.

Implant-Supported Denture Procedure in New York

There is another reason why the dental implants are angled as this allows Dr. Rahmani to use longer implant posts, creating greater stability for your new implant-supported denture. Additionally once the denture is placed in position it ensures the dental implants cannot move so the process of Osseo integration will still take place, just while you have your new denture. By securing the new dentures so they cannot move, they will be able to bond firmly within your jawbone so there is no need to worry that this treatment offers any sort of compromise for the long-term success of your dental implants. In fact it has been widely used since the 1990s with very good long-term results. All-on-four can be an amazing treatment and has already provided many patients with the confidence that comes from knowing your beautiful new teeth are completely stable and strong. Foods that have been off-limits for years are suddenly easy to eat and life can become a whole lot more enjoyable.

Planning and Preparation to Dental Implant Procedure

As with any type of dental implant procedure, careful planning is essential for the success of this treatment and is something that Dr. Rahmani takes extremely seriously. Much of this planning is done behind the scenes using diagnostic information that will have been collected from you during your initial visits to Manhattan Periodontics & Implant Surgery. These diagnostic tests include dental x-rays and most importantly a CT scan of your jaw. This 3-D image provides information that is absolutely essential. Using your CT scan, Dr.Rahmani can analyze the amount of available bone, as well as the location of nerves, blood vessels and other important structures that must be avoided during implant-supported denture surgery. This enables him to plan exactly where the implants will be inserted during your treatment and ensures that the entire treatment process is much smoother and more comfortable for you.
