Laser Technology in Midtown East, NYC
Lasers have become widely used during the last few decades as they are able to deliver a concentrated beam of energy in a specific wavelength. Different wavelengths are used to target hard or soft tissues in the mouth in a way that is far more precise than using a scalpel.
Our dental practice has the Waterlase iPlus, one of the most advanced lasers available today, and which uses YSGG laser energy to treat both soft and hard tissues. YSGG stands for Yttrium Scandium Gallium Garnet. It provides laser energy that is combined with a gentle spray of water and air. A laser does not produce any of the heat, pressure and vibration associated with traditional dental drills so there is a decreased possibility that tissues will sustain thermal or heat damage, and there is less need to use anesthetic during the appointment.
Non-Invasive and Effective
The actual time you’ll need to spend in our dental office is shorter, as there is no need to wait for anesthetics to take effect, and there is no need for sutures after all the diseased tissue has been removed. The whole experience is as painless and as anxiety-free as possible, as laser dentistry is very non-invasive. This can be hugely beneficial for patients’ whole feel nervous about dental visits.
